Business Unusual and Darwin Theatre Company present

TRACY
By Sarah Cathcart and Nicola Fearn
With stories by Yanyuwa woman Hilda Muir
Story Consultant Samantha Chalmers

Two girls. A crime. A cyclone.

An English girl arrives at Darwin airport in the summer of 1974.
An Aboriginal girl travels through the bush on horseback in 1928.
Both girls are fleeing a crime and will meet at the centre of a cyclone.

Telling a story of bankruptcy, murder and betrayal, Tracy is based on the extraordinary family stories of Samantha Chalmers, Nicola Fearn and survivors of Cyclone Tracy.

After a sell-out season of the acclaimed The Pearler, Business Unusual once again brings together its team – performers Samantha Chalmers and Nicola Fearn, composer Kim Baston and Melbourne-based writer/director Sarah Cathcart.

The show is told in Business Unusual’s distinctive style combining text, puppetry and mask with original music.

“Business Unusual’s The pearler is a magical journey back in time that delivers a visual feast…” NT News, Darwin

A Farmer, a pig and a town full of seriously crazy people. Flamboyant physical theatre from the Tropic Sun Theatre Company- with live music, soundscape and lots of outlandish humour.

Farmer Cyrus Futz loves his pig Amanda, and therefore he does disservice to the town tart, Majorie Satz. Seeing Futz at play in the farmyard, nutty Oscar Loop is moved to murder leather-loving Ann Fox in a mad attempt to preserve the purity of the natural world. Loop must die, Majorie must be avenged, and Futz must have his happy home life drowned in a ritual blood bath.

SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT

Leela, a magazine writer seeking exotic adventures and Chris, a slick London advertising guru visiting his Indian homeland to scatter his mother’s ashes are thrown together by the gods and taken on an unexpected journey. What this creates is a colorful, mystical romp through India with all the elements of a Bollywood hit movie – romance, fate, family, a hint of pathos and a good dose of singing and dancing.
This production is directed by Suellen Maunder from JUTE, and features Sue Hayes from Cairns and Christopher Glover from Townsville who was one of the leads in Constance Drink water and the Final Days of Somerset which was here in August. Together they play a variety of roles and manipulate puppets to create the feverish energy of India.
