About John du Feu - writer, playwright, director, dramaturg, visual artist
John worked as an actor and dramaturg in Europe and UK until 1983 when, after touring Australian theatres twice with KISS Theatre, he moved here permanently. John directed community shows in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland before, in 1988, becoming artistic director of Shopfront Theatre for Young People in Sydney. In 1992, John moved to North Queensland to take the position of manager at Townsville Civic Theatre, a post he held until 1997, also president of the Northern Australia Performing Arts Centres Association (NARPACA) 1993-97. Since 1997, John has written and directed shows, including several for the NQ regional theatre, Tropic Sun, in Townsville, and, in 1999, he also directed 'Auntie Mame' & 'Cemetery' for the Burdekin Theatre. In 2000, John wrote the play 'Outside Lives' which was subsequently published in Brisbane and toured to regional Queensland theatres. For Tropic Sun, John performed the roles of Shylock in Shakespeare's 'The Merchant of Venice', Thomas Beckett in TS Elliot's 'Murder in the Cathedral' & Herod in Oscar Wilde's 'Salome'. He also wrote two full-length shows for La Luna Youth Arts and held his own solo exhibition of miniature paintings at Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts in Townsville.

Karen has endeavoured upon a varied career of hospitality, events and teaching. After returning to Darwin after 3 years in the UK and 4 years in Melbourne, she is very happy to be back home taking on her new career in the exciting life of theatre and the arts. Her experience in the arts includes project managing for Darwin Theatre Company since February 2008 and working on the NT Indigenous Music Awards in 2007.
